Cheryl Jackson is most popularly known as the former co-host of "Joy In The Morning with Jaye Harmon" on Heaven 1580AM, WPGC-AM. The perfect compliment to Jaye Harmon, Cheryl brought humor and life to gospel radio. Her bubbling personality along with her commitment to Christ made for a wonderful and edifying listening experience.
Her calling to radio started when she decided to pursue a higher education at the Eastern Shore of Maryland at Salisbury State University in Salisbury, MD. There she earned her Bachelors of Arts Degree in Communication Arts. It was also there, during the funeral of a friend, that she made the most important decision of her life; she received the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Directly from college, Cheryl began her radio career as a midday host of 90.3FM WDIH. Eventually she became the Program Director of the 24-hour non-commercial Gospel radio station. After four years at WDIH, she moved back to the Washington, D.C. area to become a weekend host for two radio stations, WMMJ-FM Majic 102.3 and WWIN-AM Spirit 1400. Cheryl went on to become the Promotions Director for three stations: WWIN-AM, WOL-AM and WOLB-AM as well as Music Director for WWIN-AM.
Currently Cheryl is the Program Director and Morning Show Co-host at Heaven 1580AM. In these capacities, she sees her calling first "to minister to the masses". She also feels it's important to educate those following in her footsteps about the industry and what it takes "to perfect radio". "I see God raising me up to teach the principles of good radio from the artists to the listener", says Cheryl. Not only is she a professional in radio, but she is an ordained minister and Youth Pastor at Capital Temple Church of God In Christ. She also works in a state work as a District Chairwoman for the DC Jurisdiction of the Church of God In Christ. She has received numerous accolades, however the one that she is most proud of is the award that she received recognizing her as "The Most Influential Woman Award In Broadcasting" given to her by a national Christian woman's organization called Christian Sistahs, Inc.
She is married to Glendale "Dwight" Jackson and they have four children, Desmond, Lahmar, Kayla and Darren.
She lives by her favorite scripture, Phillippians 1:6, "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ."
