Good Morning Marsha: I'm unable to call due to being at work -- As far as Rev. Wright -- pride and disagreement allowed the enemy to deceive him -- What he need to do is apologize to Obama publicly and reconcile their relationship in the name of God not politics.  I believe Obama wife is a beautiful black woman that would be an excellent first lady (strong black female figure standing with husband and not trying be seen but support her husband.I love you guys -- you guys are such blessing to me and many more. Shouting out from New York.

I really enjoy the talk radio format!  All of you are really enlightening the listeners.  The“Gas“song is great!  I do hope you have copyrighted your song and are receiving royalties.  I've heard it sung on another local radio station.

Today was my first Friday to be able to listen to Ak's show and from what I heard, I was truly blessed. I thoroughly enjoyed the caller's comments and encouragement about“when you go to the altar, you are going to die.“That was truly a life changing comment for me, particuarly as I am preparing for marriage. It really has changed my perspective already about what my expectations should be as a soon-to-be wife.  I also appreciated Kevin's comments about encouraging singles to do things in a way that opposes the world.Again, I am so excited I had a chance to tune in.  I know how much Kevin prepares for these shows and its such a blessing to just see how the two of you, and even callers, end up being“in the Spirit“in your topics and comments.  May the Lord continue to bless this work and I pray that you are blessed EXCEEDING, ABUNDANTLY, ABOVE anything you could ever ask or think!!

What about the soul ties that you had before you are save and when you become save in christ how do handle and get away from it.

I would like to find out how I can hear a segment aired yesterday with Alesha Martin of the Greater Washington Urban League's Thursday Network, I missed the original broadcast.

I was so surprised a few weeks ago when I heard a new host.  I just thought folks were on vacation for a couple of days.  I tuned back in later that day and there was still talk.  Okay, I'll be the first to admit that I am not a fan of talk radio.  However, I will stop and engage my mind if something intelligent is being said.  However, the new programming is REALLY BAD!!  The hosts are uninteresting and not well-spoken. The few times I tried to give the new fomat a chance and open my mind, I couldn't follow; no clear theme or topic and poor prediction.  This is very disappointing.  Why would you all switch from something that was clearly a success?

(((Let me warn you....it's a long one))) lol

I had no idea that the station format was new nor did I know that y'all were catching a lot of local flack for the change... I was simply logging on JUST to say "GREAT JOB" and discovered all the disgust with the new format....

I've read through some of the comments on this board and I can understand that its disappointing when change comes about. I can imagine that 1580 has probably been a staple in the DC area for a long time and that the old format had become a very familiar thing... So i sympathize with the DC-family... but i pray that you can mourn the loss and embrace the change...because it TRULY IS for the better...

My Testimony...my praise...
I'm not in D.C. so I must admit that I don't have the emotional tie to the old format...but I just wanted to say to the 1580 leaders and show hosts that this station has BLESSED ME!!

I'd been praying and wishing that our local gospel station would do at least one or two talk shows...they seem to tease us with a topic but won't do a whole show; but it obvious that the people WANT to talk. So I emailed the suggestion the other day....but got no response.

Shortly thereafter, a myspace buddy informed me of 1580 and it has TRULY been a blessing ever since!! I love talk radio but I get very fed up with the non-Christian prospective that i have to deal with when I listen to it... So I appreciate having Heaven 1580 to infuse my day with Godly ideas, Godly encouragement, Godly advice, etc.
(((Walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly)))

Don't get me wrong, I love gospel music but I am GLAD to have this option available... and now I've become addicted to this station via internet.... I find myself turning my desk radio off (which is our local gospel station playing music) and tuning in to Ak's show and leaving it on there the entire work day..... I turn 1580 on again when I get home at night to hear all the rebroadcasts on the net.... ((((YEAH, i like it JUST that much)))))... :)
So, to the D.C. mourners, you can find Christian music stations ANYwhere (we have like 4 or 5 in my town)... but your hometown station (1580) is onto something great... Support them and move with the wave...don't try to jump on after it blows up. You've already mentioned that you have other Christian music stations there so try to welcome this variety.

I TRULY LOVE THIS STATION and I will promote it from my city and among my friends, family, etc..... I love the integrity of the hosts...(which shows through their comments and opinions)... I like how they don't censor the Gospel truth and I pray as the station expands (because it WILL expand GREATLY) that you all promise not to compromise the truth...or muzzle the hosts.

Just know that the cyber community is LOVING THIS... Christian Talk Radio is truly cutting edge and a blessing to the Body of Christ... Be encouraged and keep up the good work.

REMEMBER: God's people are perishing because of a lack of KNOWLEDGE.................. not music......... and in the few days that I've been listening, this station has been a WEALTH of knowledge!!!

Overprotective Parents:At a certain age being overprotective is costly. Give you an example. I have a friend whose mother would not allow her to watch simple disney movies, tv shows that had any kissing in them. Her mother constantly told her daughter that she did not want her to get pregnant at an early age. Long story short, my friend ended up getting pregnant. To some degree being overprotective says to the teen I don't trust you, i don't trust the word I put in you as a child, I don't trust the God thats in you, and I don't trust God to protect and convict you.So being overprotective can be a hazzard just as not training your child in the way they should go.of course i think it needs to be age appropriate.

April 29, 2008, 3:51 pm, Nik M
In reference to the school banning facebook and myspace accounts.I too work with teens but I am 25 with a myspace and facbook accounts. I even now need to get a beebo account because most of my teens are there. The schools position is a clear sign of ignorance. Its like back in the day people would say rap was of the devil and that all rap was banned from churches. Myspace, facebook, bebo, rap are all vehicles and tools. How we use them either corrupt or for the glory of God is the difference. TO make a blanket statement and say no accounts is to say I don't know enough about it so I am just going to cancel it out.I think it shows teens that we one, are irrelevant and out of touch with their community. It also says we don't trust them (and sometimes justifiably so) to maintain an account and don't have the time to stay on top of what they are doing.Clearly they are wanting attention and myspace and facbooks are no different. They are calling out for attention that is often missing at home... lets not put it on the kids. they are a reflection of their parents.

I would like to say thanks for talking about issues people are affraid to talk about.  But you're right about black folks not wanting to talk.  But I love getting counseling now.  Because in the multitude of counsel their is safety.  I want to make sure I'm being led by God and not in my flesh.

April 24, 2008, 10:35 am, Linda Carter
I want to encourage your panel that is on today to continue writing to bless those who are in search of some type of healing and testimonies to know they are not by themselves.  Since I've been listen to this wonderful radio station I have beeninspired and I know that there is a book in me and I'm praying that it will be birth out thanks.  Marsha I really truly enjoy your segment and the Heaven 1580 Family.God bless my family.

I just love this new format!! After the initial change, I was a little dissappointed, but within a few minutes, I became hooked.  This is information, these are subjects that can save lives, mend souls, and guide the lost.  when listening to the new Heaven1580, I consider myself in class learning.  Keep up the good work, don't change back, we can get music anywhere, we need informaton.  Anyhow, the reason I e-mailed was to contact the Akintunde show.  I know it is grown man Thursdays, but this sister be listenin'. :)  I would like to say thank you for allowing people to share their hearts, the lives.  There was a gentlemen on there today that talked about being the same way of his father, but the difference is that he accepted Christ.  That totally hit home for me because I was just whining to God a few months ago about be in my 30's and still single with no kids.  Why is this hapening to me, I asked God.  One day He let me know that he is allowing some things that I was taught by my parents to let go, He is allowing me to make some choices that my mom and dad did not make, He is allowing me to tear down some strongholds.  So men I heard that, a sister was straight in tears for joy.  Love you all and we are spreading the word in Minneapolis, MN about Heaven1580am.

1.  Oprah's teaching comes under the heading of a sect of people who practice“New Age“as a religion. The man's teaching she is following is Eckhart Tolle.
2.  My customer service woes have come in the area of“medical receptionists.“I think the problem is that most of them have not been properly trained, and have no one to hold them accountable for their actions. When people are sick, they do not want to feel intimidated bybad attitudes.
Response to Akintunde's show on poor customer service.

I have not listened to 1580 for some time.  I decided to login today and found a talk show.  Has the programing format for the station changed?
April 4, 2008, 8:40 am, Elaine Jackson, Heaven 1580 Webmaster
The format change was a business decision made by CBS Radio.  We do appreciate all of the comments positive and not so positive.  For those of you who prefer to listen to gospel music, the Heaven 1580 website now gives you the option to do just that, via "My Heaven 1580"; which offers different playlists like Praise Break, Back In The Day, and Worship.  When you get a moment, try it out. Just go to the homepage and click on the My Heaven 1580 banner.

Heaven 1580 thanks you for taking the time voice your opinion.

I like the new format. I read where a lot of people have something negative to say about it, but its really not that bad. Yeah the music is gone, but has anyone ever taken to time to think that 1580 is owned by CBS. Maybe CBS wanted to change the format for a reason. Its not 1580's fault. I love Marsha's show and all the different authors that she has. I laugh sooo hard at Akintunde. Jim Allen keeps me posted with the politics, and Jeff T does a wonderful job every evening on The Takeover (I believe thats the name of his show?). He really takes the time to reach out to our youth with positive conversation. I listen to 1580 at home,at work, in the car, or wherever I can. Keep up the good job ministering to people for the King!

I agree with the writer of April 3rd.  Where's the Gospel music?  Talk show's are great but enough is enough!
April 3, 2008, 11:50 am, Teeni
This“new“heaven 1580 is not cool.  I personally do not like all of the talking and minimal song playing. I miss the other commentators. Where is everyone? Why aren't songs being played.  I don't really listen to it anymore.  Maybe I'm missing the times of music playing.

What happen to the GOSPEL music througout the day and the laughter.  I do not want to get up in the morning and all day long listen to a talk show.  I am for addressing different issues but I also enjoyed listening to Gospel music throughout the day.  Bring back the old format.  I do not like this format AT ALL.  We don't have enough Gospel station as it is.

To Jeff T.:Hi again, this is Rachel-Anna (the 15 year old). I went on the net and saw your picture and recalled meeting you at Progressive Church last year when Tye Tribbett was speaking. I was have a“trying“evening and I relly sensed the love of God when I spoke with you. Just wanted to say,“Thank you“. I appreciate your kindness and demonstration of the Kingdom of God. God bless you! PS. Sorry for being so long-winded on the show! :)

Is it possible to have a bulk of your Christian Business Directories shipped to my church?  If so, the address is: Greater St. Paul Baptist Church, 5720 South Dakota Avenue, NE, Washington, DC  20011

This new 1580 is most refreshing.   I use to cringe and tune to another station when I listened to the foolishness going on so early in the am.  Now, I am practically glued to this en-lightneng, informative station.

My coworker and I listen to your show at  work faithfully everyday we are unable to use our computers at work , you know how that is big brother is always watching.  The format is great and we learn and a lot. You at times think that you have prolems but when you listen to other people's problems and know that God is a problem solver you can overcome anything with.  God bless you with the work of your hand and all that make this station a success.  My people parish for a lack of knowledge.

Good Morning Ms. Marsha and Guest. I just wanted to take a moment to tell Ms. Alexander that I am encouraged by her because I am in a wheelchair and I have physical challenges and I am encouraged by her . Keep up the great work.

Akintunde,Please let the women respond of why women stay. it sounds very crazy to hear a man explain what is on the inside of a woman's mind. I also think you may want to consider how long has Governor Spitzer's wife known. I think right now we are seeing a woman in shock. So the more she thinks about it, the more it sets it (and she moves away from feeling she has to defend her husband) she will realize the hurt and the pain. She's in trauma/shock right now...Let the ladies talk please :-)Thanks
March 12, 2008, 11:36 am, Nicole Mason
Marsha,Thanks for reading my note. P.S. (sorry i forgot to mention). We have a Christian counselor at my church who actually does group and individual sessions on forgiveness. He often finds it difficult to talk to Christians about their anger/unforgiveness towards God. So thats what made think of that topic. It would be a potential topic maybe for the show. I can send you his info. I think a lot of people would benefit from it (although it may be a little controversial).
March 12, 2008, 11:23 am, Nicole Mason
If you want to dig a little deeper Marsha,You may want to talk about unforgiveness towards God. Like when people loose a loved on and feel God took them or God allowed it to happen.Thats real talk :-)(

Do you have any financial assistance for single mothers? I have a friend/co-worker who has one of the sweetest spirits a person could ever have and she is having financial hardship. She is a single mom & may be in threat of losing her home.

What happened to the radio station?  This is not the station that was deemed Washington's #1 Urban Inspiration Station.  Are we ever going to get back to the“music“we all have been listening for all of these years?  I have listened and supported this station for its programming since they aired in the'90s.  Now, most of the time when I turn it on I end up changing it.  Most of the what I'm hearing these days is no where near reaching the standards that the staff and personnel have worked so hard to create.  Although we have the option to change the station, what we really desire is to have Cheryl, Jay, Theresa, Lenair, and all of the others back on the air doing what they do best...right here in the DC Metropolitan area.
March 7, 2008, 10:40 am, Deborah
Marsah people put too much faith in each other when people should put their faith in GOD!!! The Bible tells us that when our forsake us God is their.God is last choice when He should be our first choice. This morning doing my time of prayer for a family friend God told me to tell him read the Psalms 51 which deals with repentence I thank God for this platform you are blessing so many people even me!!!!!!!!!!!
March 6, 2008, 6:44 pm, Renee
Date is 3/6/2008 6:30pm  Maybe I am mistaken but I was under the impression that this station was an inspirational talk station. The current topic of discussion is truly not uplifting, encouraging or enlightening. It sounds to me to be a lot of anger, resentment, hatred, jealousy, and envy being released on the air-waves. What should be discussed is how much they prayed for those who persecuted them or showed love to those who despised them. With this station going to all talk the MC'c need to seek positive, encouraging and uplifting topics. There are some who do not wish to hear about immature topics of jealousy. Prayer is the answer.

I've experienced some of the things Elder Vikki Johnson has spoke on this morning.  She have confirmed some things I have been reevaluating in myself.  I am divorced and said I want God to prepare me for the man he has for me.  I've kept myself busy so I would not get caught up in a relationship. I have enjoyed listening to you this morning.

Good Afternoon,My opinion may not matter, but I truly miss the old Heaven 1580.  It really used to minister to me as well as others.  People, who I a referred to the online Heaven 1580and was listening to the station and being ministered too, no longer listen because of the new format.  I pray that some of the old Heaven 1580 can return.  Currently it is too much talking.  Not to take away form what you want to do, with addressing issues. Sometimes some people are not in a place were they can hear or process all the talking.  Were is the music can at times usher you into the lace you need to be, whether in a car hospital, home, work, plane on the street on in a bad place.  Talking can always minister to you the way music can.  Praise and worship are needed as well.  It really hurst that I now have to listen to another station thats not even in the Metro area.God Bless you all, Again its just my opinion.

What happens to a man that rejects his children and treat them as though they are strangers when he see them on the street?

February 28, 2008, 8:33 am, Nikki
Good Morning, I used to listen to Heaven 1580am, particularly the morning show, and it seems as if everything has now changed. I'm just wondering, what happened to Jay&Teresa, and is Cheryl Jackson still the program manager? I don't mind some talking on the radio, but do believe that gospel music and previous hosts provided the spiritual inspiration that we needed, especially early in the morning. I am also disappointed that it appears the station has somewhat gotten away from Christ and the foundation of the gospel. It seems to be now merely another talk radio station. It is my prayer that whoever is in charge will be lead by the spirit and will keep in mind the mission and mandate of Christ, which is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, and return to this.
February 28, 2008, 8:29 am, Teena Williams
What has happened to the morning show  I'm all for a new 1580 but what has happened to the music in the morning.  When people get up in the morning  I would say from 4-9 am is the time that people most need inspirational music get up start my day on the battle feild for that day the last thing I want is to trun on the raido for insporation and here someone talk show WHERE IS THE MUSIC!!!!!!!!
February 28, 2008, 8:07 am, Sandra
I was a faithful listener to your station during the daytime when I was at work. I have been laid off for awhile and I noticed now that you have a talk show in place of music.  Do you play music anymore during the week.  That was my one ofmy inspiration when I was working. Bless you and your station.
February 28, 2008, 8:01 am, Linnet Holland
How long will the new talk format last?  I loved listening this station to be inspired and uplifted by the gospel music.  There are not many gospel stations available to give us good Christian music and now you have totally changed your format.  Gospel music is ministry.
